We need to take action!

images.jpgE-waste is a major problem facing our society. With stiff Competition in the computer and electronic industries, newer and faster products flood the market at increasingly faster rates. In order to stay competitive, businesses and individuals have to keep up with the newer technology. This causes huge amounts of electronic waste to enter our waste stream. Computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, etc., all go out of date and out of style so fast. Companies often don't know what to do with them. They often end up in the wrong hands and get shipped off to third world dumping grounds where they are handled by children and poor. We, in North America, are a leading contributor to this problem. In 1999 alone, Canadians discarded 36,000 tons of E-waste, contributing to our over flowing landfills and illegal export of hazardous waste oversees for dumping.

images3.jpgAt VCLS, we are helping to change that and we are creating a hopeful outlook for the future. We want to change the growing E-waste problem in to a solution for people who can not afford working electronics equipment. Basically, from what you see on the left to what you see on the right!

Computers that may not be good for some, may meet the needs for others. The Provincial Stewardship Program is for END OF LIFE MATERIALS. We want the opportunity to sort through the computers so we can take out the ones that can be refurbished and donated back to our community, helping so many people. We send our recycling materials to a processor that uses the Provincial Program as well. PLEASE DONATE TO US SO WE CAN HELP YOU HELP OTHERS.
